Which Ninja Coffee Maker Should You Buy? The Drip and Pod Range

Fresh Brew, Hot & Iced XL, Specialty CM401, DualBrew and Pods & Grounds: Ninja's drip and pod range matched to how you drink, from Ninja's own guides.

8 facts, each with a source below 6 questions answered 7 verified products

Decide on pods first, then on milk. If you only brew grounds, the Fresh Brew CE251 is Ninja's plain 12-cup pot, the Hot & Iced XL CM371 adds single cups and rapid cold brew, and the Specialty CM401 adds a fold-away frother for lattes. If you want K-Cup pods as well as a pot, the DualBrew GP161 does both with cold brew, and the DualBrew Pro CFP301 adds a frother and a hot water spout. One cup at a time? The Pods & Grounds PB051. Espresso capsules and a pot? The CFN601. Nothing here is scored: every figure is Ninja's own.

Ninja's coffee makers sort by two questions: do you want pods as well as grounds, and do you want milk drinks.

Two questions that decide it

Ninja's coffee makers share a lot: most offer Classic and Rich brews, brew over ice, and take ground coffee for a single cup as well as a pot. Two things separate them.

Pods, or only grounds? The CE251, CM371 and CM401 brew ground coffee only. The DualBrew machines and the Pods & Grounds single-serve also take K-Cup pods. The CFN601 takes Nespresso-compatible espresso capsules instead.

Milk drinks, or not? The machines with a fold-away frother, and a Specialty brew that makes a small concentrate to build a latte on, are the CM401, the CFP301, the PB051 and the CFN601. The others have no frother.

This page covers Ninja's drip and pod coffee makers. Its Luxe Café espresso machines, with grinders and portafilters, are reviewed separately on our Ninja brand page. Nothing here is scored or ranked: every figure is from Ninja's listings or owner's guides, read on 30 October 2026.

Grounds only: CE251, CM371 and CM401

Fresh Brew CE251 — a straightforward 12-cup glass-carafe drip machine. Classic or Rich strength, a small-batch setting for 1 to 4 cups, 24-hour delay brew, a warming plate that holds coffee up to 4 hours and a 60 oz reservoir that lifts out to fill. Ninja's guide puts a full carafe at about 12 to 15 minutes. If you want a pot of coffee and nothing else, this is the one.

Hot & Iced XL CM371 — brews anything from a small cup to a full 12-cup carafe in eight sizes, and adds Cold Brew, which its listing says takes as little as 10 minutes. The reservoir is auto-metering, so you fill it and the machine takes what each size needs. No frother.

Specialty CM401 — six sizes up to a 10-cup glass carafe, a fold-away frother, and the Specialty brew, a concentrate of about 4 oz per its guide for lattes and cappuccinos. Ninja lists the carafe, filters, reservoir and frother whisk as top-rack dishwasher safe.

Pods and a pot: GP161 and CFP301

DualBrew GP161 — grounds from a single cup to a 12-cup carafe, K-Cup pods from 6 to 12 oz, and rapid cold brew from either. Its listing gives a full carafe of cold brew in under 20 minutes. It has a warming plate and a 60 oz reservoir, but no frother.

DualBrew Pro CFP301 — grounds and pods in 13 sizes, the Specialty brew, a fold-away frother, and a separate hot water spout with hot and boil settings for tea or oatmeal. The 60 oz reservoir sits on the side or the back. When we checked, Ninja's own site sent its CFP301 page to a newer DualBrew model, so it may be on the way out; Amazon.com was still selling it new.

Ninja's guide notes that reusable K-Cup filters do not fit its pod adapter: for a single cup of your own coffee, use the grounds side instead.

One cup at a time: Pods & Grounds PB051

The PB051 is Ninja's single-serve machine. It takes K-Cup pods or your own grounds, brews 6 to 24 oz, and has four styles including Over Ice and Specialty, plus a fold-away frother. Its 56 oz reservoir lifts off. If you would otherwise buy a Keurig, this is Ninja's answer, and our which Keurig to buy guide is the comparison to read.

Espresso capsules and a pot: CFN601

The Espresso & Coffee Barista System CFN601 brews Nespresso-compatible original-style capsules on one side, as Espresso, Lungo or Over Ice, with a 19-bar system per its listing, and a pot of drip coffee from grounds on the other, up to 12 cups. It has a fold-away frother and a bin for 20 used capsules. Ninja's newer DualBrew Prestige CFN801 lists the same capsule and grounds brewing.

It is a capsule machine, not an espresso machine with a grinder. If that is what you want, see the Luxe Café range on our Ninja brand page.

What owning one involves

Every Ninja here has a clean cycle that descales it with white vinegar or a coffee-maker descaler, and most light a CLEAN indicator when it is due. Ninja's guides also ask for the system to be cleaned weekly, and its warranty excludes failure to run regular cleaning cycles. Our Ninja coffee maker cleaning guide covers each family. The warranty is one year on every model, per Ninja's guides.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best Ninja coffee maker?

It depends on whether you use pods. For a pot of coffee only, the Fresh Brew CE251; for single cups, cold brew and pots from grounds, the CM371; for lattes, the Specialty CM401. For pods and a pot, the DualBrew GP161 or the CFP301, which adds a frother and hot water. We do not score Ninja coffee makers, so this is a recommendation about fit.

Which Ninja coffee maker uses K-Cups?

The DualBrew GP161 and DualBrew Pro CFP301, which also brew a pot from grounds, and the Pods & Grounds PB051 single-serve. Their listings say they take K-Cup pods. The CE251, CM371 and CM401 brew grounds only.

What is the Ninja Specialty coffee maker?

The CM401: a drip machine that brews grounds from a single cup to a 10-cup carafe, with a fold-away frother and a Specialty brew, a concentrate of about 4 oz that you build lattes and cappuccinos on. It does not take pods.

What is the difference between the Ninja DualBrew and DualBrew Pro?

Both brew grounds and K-Cup pods into a cup or a 12-cup carafe. The DualBrew Pro CFP301 adds a fold-away frother, the Specialty brew and a separate hot water spout. The newer DualBrew GP161 adds rapid cold brew but has no frother.

Does a Ninja coffee maker make espresso?

The drip machines make a Specialty concentrate, not espresso. The CFN601 Espresso & Coffee Barista System brews espresso from Nespresso-compatible capsules. For espresso from beans, Ninja's Luxe Café machines are a different range; see our Ninja brand page.

How long is the Ninja coffee maker warranty?

One year, per Ninja's owner's guides. The warranty excludes failure to perform required maintenance, such as running regular cleaning cycles.
