These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your access to and use of www.coffeelabadvisor.com and all associated content, tools, evaluations, awards program materials, and services (collectively, the "Site"). The Site is owned and operated by ChooseToShop LLC, an Indiana limited liability company ("CoffeeLabAdvisor," "we," "us," or "our").
By accessing or using the Site, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Site. We may update these Terms from time to time as described in Section 15; continued use of the Site after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
The Site does not require account creation, registration, or login for general use. Where specific features in the future require an account (see Section 3), additional terms may apply and will be presented at that time.
CoffeeLabAdvisor is an independent evaluation publication covering coffee equipment (espresso machines, grinders, and bean-to-cup systems), specialty coffee venues, and related content, evaluated under our published 5-Gate Genuineness Test and documented in our Awards Methodology (available at www.coffeelabadvisor.com/awards-methodology).
Our evaluations are produced through systematic synthesis of specialist community sources, manufacturer specifications, catalog data, and documented performance signals. Some products may additionally carry a "CoffeeLab Verified" designation reflecting hands-on evaluation by our team; all other content should be understood as synthesis-based evaluation, as disclosed on each relevant page.
No consent required to be evaluated. Consistent with established industry practice for independent review and recognition programs, CoffeeLabAdvisor may evaluate, rate, feature, or issue unsolicited recognition to any publicly available product or venue without obtaining the prior consent of the manufacturer, owner, or operator. A business or product does not need to apply, register, or agree to be evaluated, listed, or awarded.
No guarantee of any particular outcome. Being evaluated by CoffeeLabAdvisor does not guarantee a favorable review, a passing score, or any award or designation. Evaluation outcomes are determined solely by application of our published methodology.
The Site currently operates without user accounts, logins, or password-protected areas. We do not knowingly collect sensitive personal information through the Site beyond what is described in our Privacy Policy.
Email collection. Where you voluntarily provide your email address (for example, to receive our Annual Coffee Report or other gated content), that information is used only for the stated purpose and is governed by our Privacy Policy. You may unsubscribe at any time using the link provided in any email we send.
Analytics. We use standard web analytics tools to understand aggregate Site usage. See our Privacy Policy for details on data collected automatically through your use of the Site (such as IP address, browser type, and pages visited).
Editorial opinion, not guaranteed fact. All scores, rankings, awards, "best of" designations, comparisons, and evaluative statements published on the Site represent our editorial assessment, produced by applying our stated methodology to the evidence available to us at the time of publication. They are opinions formed through a documented, consistently applied process — not statements of scientifically verified fact, unless a specific claim is explicitly labeled as independently lab-tested ("CoffeeLab Verified").
No warranty of accuracy or completeness. While we make good-faith efforts to verify factual claims, specifications, and pricing against primary and specialist sources, the Site and all content on it are provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of accuracy, completeness, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. Product specifications, pricing, and availability change frequently and may not reflect real-time conditions; always verify current details with the manufacturer or retailer before purchase.
Methodology governs, not individual preference. Our evaluations reflect the outcome of our published scoring methodology, not the personal opinion of any single reviewer, and not a guarantee that any individual will have the same experience with a product or venue. Known limitations of any awarded or recommended product are disclosed on the relevant page; no evaluation should be read as a claim that a product is defect-free or suitable for every use case.
Evaluations may be critical. Our evaluations may be critical of a product or venue. An unfavorable evaluation reflects our honest application of the published methodology to the evidence available at the time of publication; it is not a representation that a product is defective or unsuitable, and it does not create liability where the evaluation is accurate or constitutes a protected opinion. If you believe a factual claim on the Site is inaccurate, use the correction process below.
Corrections. If you believe any factual claim on the Site is inaccurate, please contact us at the address in Section 18. We review correction requests in good faith and will update content where warranted, consistent with our editorial independence.
CoffeeLabAdvisor is operated by ChooseToShop LLC, which earns revenue through several disclosed channels, described in full on our About page and repeated in summary here:
As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases. Links to third-party products on this Site may be affiliate links; if you click such a link and make a purchase, we may receive a commission at no additional cost to you.
Independence from evaluation outcomes. No affiliate relationship, advertising arrangement, sponsorship, or badge licensing fee influences the outcome of any product evaluation, score, ranking, or award decision. Full detail on this commitment is published in our Awards Methodology and Independence sections of the About page.
CoffeeLabAdvisor may enter into paid sponsorship or advertising relationships with brands, cities, or organizations, including but not limited to city-market sponsorships, national brand sponsorships, and Annual Coffee Report sponsorships.
Editorial firewall. Sponsorship and advertising relationships are commercial arrangements separate and distinct from our editorial evaluation process. Payment for sponsorship, advertising, or any commercial arrangement does not entitle the payer to any influence over evaluation scores, award decisions, editorial content, or placement in evaluative rankings. Any sponsored content that does appear on the Site (as opposed to evaluative content) will be clearly and conspicuously labeled as sponsored, advertising, or paid placement, consistent with FTC endorsement guidelines.
Separate agreements govern. Specific sponsorship and advertising arrangements are governed by individually negotiated written agreements between the sponsor/advertiser and ChooseToShop LLC. In the event of conflict between these Terms and a specific signed sponsorship agreement, the signed agreement controls as to that relationship only.
Unsolicited and non-applied-for. As described in Section 2, CoffeeLabAdvisor awards (including the CoffeeLab Award and CoffeeLab Verified designations) are not available for application or purchase. Evaluation and award decisions are made solely through application of our published 5-Gate Genuineness Test.
No obligation to award. We reserve the right, in our sole discretion, to decline to issue any award to any candidate, including candidates that meet minimum scoring thresholds, and to withhold public disclosure of our reasoning beyond what is published in the relevant award page and research record.
Right to revoke or modify. We reserve the right to revoke, suspend, or modify any previously issued award or designation at any time, including without notice, if we determine that: (a) a product or venue no longer meets the standard under which the award was issued (for example, due to a design change, ownership change, or documented decline in quality); (b) the award was issued based on inaccurate or incomplete information; or (c) continued display of the award would misrepresent current conditions. Where practical, we will update the public award page to reflect the current status (Active, Expired, or Revoked).
Annual review, not permanent. Unless expressly stated otherwise on the specific award page, awards reflect conditions evaluated as of a specific date and are not a permanent or ongoing certification. Award recipients and readers should refer to the award page for the most current status.
Award recipients may be offered the opportunity to license the CoffeeLab Award or CoffeeLab Verified badge and/or a printable certificate for display on their own website, packaging, marketing materials, or physical premises, subject to a separate Badge License Agreement provided at the time of request.
The certificate is free; the badge is licensed for a fee. A printable certificate is granted automatically to every award recipient at no charge, and may be displayed in the recipient's premises and in print without payment, permission, or reply. Commercial display of the badge artwork — on a website, an app, in advertising, or on packaging — requires a one-time licence fee, published openly in the Badge License Agreement rather than quoted privately, and subject to revision for licences not yet issued. No fee of any kind is charged before an award has been decided and published, and none is accepted if offered beforehand.

From time to time, CoffeeLabAdvisor may offer paid products or services directly through the Site or through a linked payment process, including but not limited to:
Pricing and availability. Prices for any paid product or service are subject to change without notice until an order is confirmed. We reserve the right to limit quantities, discontinue any paid offering, or refuse any order at our discretion.
Physical goods. For physical goods such as window stickers, risk of loss and title pass to you upon our delivery to the shipping carrier. Shipping timelines are estimates, not guarantees. Physical award stickers are non-refundable once shipped, except in cases of manufacturing defect or shipping damage, in which case contact us within 14 days of receipt for a replacement.
Digital and service-based products. Paid listings, sponsorships, and licensing fees are, once the associated service has been delivered (e.g., a listing has gone live, a badge license period has begun), non-refundable except as required by applicable law or as separately agreed in writing.
Our marks. "CoffeeLabAdvisor," "CoffeeLab Award," "CoffeeLab Verified," and associated logos are trademarks of ChooseToShop LLC, currently pending registration with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO Class 041). Use of these marks without our prior written permission, other than as expressly permitted under a Badge License Agreement, is prohibited.
Site content. All text, graphics, scoring methodology, evaluation frameworks, rankings, certificates, and other original content on the Site (excluding third-party product images, logos, and trademarks, which remain the property of their respective owners) is owned by ChooseToShop LLC or its licensors and is protected by applicable copyright and intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, republish, distribute, or create derivative works from our content without prior written permission, except for personal, non-commercial reference and fair-use quotation with appropriate attribution.
Third-party trademarks. Product names, brand names, and logos referenced on the Site (including but not limited to Breville, De'Longhi, Rancilio, Gaggia, Jura, Baratza, Eureka, and similar) are the trademarks of their respective owners. Reference to these marks is for identification and evaluation purposes only and does not imply any affiliation, sponsorship, or endorsement by those brands unless separately and explicitly disclosed.
Not affiliated. CoffeeLabAdvisor is not affiliated with, and should not be confused with, Coffee Lab International of Vermont, CDR S.R.L. (Italy), or any other business using a similar name in a different market or category.

The Site contains links to third-party websites, including retailer and manufacturer sites, for your convenience and as part of our affiliate monetization described in Section 5. We do not control, and are not responsible for, the content, policies, or practices of any third-party site. Inclusion of a link does not imply our endorsement of the linked site's content beyond the specific evaluative statement made on our own page.
Purchases made through affiliate links are transactions between you and the applicable retailer (e.g., Amazon.com). We are not a party to that transaction and bear no responsibility for order fulfillment, product quality upon delivery, returns, warranty service, or payment processing — these are governed entirely by the retailer's own terms and policies.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages, so some of the above limitations may not apply to you. In such jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the greatest extent permitted by applicable law.
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless ChooseToShop LLC and its owners, members, officers, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses, including reasonable attorneys' fees, arising out of or in any way connected with: (a) your violation of these Terms; (b) your misuse of any badge, certificate, or award designation; (c) your submission of false or misleading information to us; or (d) your violation of any applicable law or the rights of any third party.
We may revise these Terms from time to time. The "Effective Date" at the top of this page reflects the date of the current version. Material changes will be reflected by updating that date, and where changes are significant, we may provide additional notice (such as a banner on the Site). Your continued use of the Site after any revised Terms take effect constitutes your acceptance of the changes.
Governing law. These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Indiana, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles.
Venue. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Site that is not resolved through informal discussion shall be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Marion County, Indiana, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of such courts.
Informal resolution first. Before filing any claim, you agree to first contact us at the address in Section 18 and attempt in good faith to resolve the dispute informally for at least thirty (30) days.
Severability. If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect, and the unenforceable provision will be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable.
No waiver. Our failure to enforce any provision of these Terms is not a waiver of our right to enforce that or any other provision in the future.
Entire agreement. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and any separately signed agreements referenced herein (including Badge License Agreements and sponsorship agreements), constitute the entire agreement between you and ChooseToShop LLC regarding the Site.
Assignment. We may assign or transfer these Terms, in whole or in part, without restriction. You may not assign your rights or obligations under these Terms without our prior written consent.
