Which Cuisinart Coffee Maker Should You Buy? Nine Current Models

PerfecTemp 14-cup, Brew Central, thermal, Grind & Brew, single-serve and the pod-and-pot combos, matched to your kitchen, from Cuisinart's own booklets.

8 facts, each with a source below 6 questions answered 9 verified products

Start with the carafe. If your pot is gone within the hour, a glass carafe on a warming plate is fine: the PerfecTemp DCC-3200 is the 14-cup model with bold and regular strength settings, and the DCC-1200P1 Brew Central is the plainer 12-cup. If coffee sits for hours, choose a thermal carafe: the 12-cup DCC-3400 or the 10-cup DCC-1170. Want whole beans ground for you? The DGB-400 Grind & Brew, with a blade grinder. Want pods too? The SS-21 Coffee Center pairs a thermal pot with a pod brewer. Nothing here is scored: every figure is Cuisinart's own.

Three questions for choosing a Cuisinart coffee maker. Pot or pods: pods only means the SS-10; pods and a pot means the SS-21 Coffee Center or the SS-4N1 Barista Bar. Beans or grounds: whole beans means the DGB-400 Grind and Brew with a blade grinder. Glass or thermal carafe: glass means the 14-cup DCC-3200, the 12-cup DCC-1200P1 or the DCC-12; thermal means the 12-cup DCC-3400 or the 10-cup DCC-1170. Three questions narrow the range A Cuisinart cup is about 5 oz, so a 12-cup pot is about 60 oz. Want pods? Pods only SS-10 Pods and a pot SS-21 Coffee Center · SS-4N1 Barista Bar Whole beans? Three questions narrow Cuisinart's range to one or two models: glass or thermal, beans or grounds, pot or pods.

Three questions that narrow it down

Cuisinart sells more coffee makers than most brands, but three questions take the range down to one or two.

Glass or thermal? A glass carafe sits on a warming plate that keeps cooking the coffee; a thermal carafe keeps it hot without one. If a pot lasts you all morning, thermal is the better fit.

Beans or grounds? Only the Grind & Brew grinds for you. The one Amazon.com sold when we checked uses a blade grinder; Cuisinart's burr-grinder versions were only offered by other sellers that day.

Pot or pods, or both? Cuisinart makes a pod brewer and two machines that put a pod brewer beside a pot.

A note on cups: Cuisinart's listings count a cup as about 5 oz, so a 12-cup pot is about 60 oz, or five 12 oz mugs. Nothing on this page is scored or ranked; we have not run a Cuisinart through our evaluation protocol, and every figure is from Cuisinart's listings or instruction booklets, read on 30 October 2026.

Glass carafe: DCC-3200, DCC-1200P1 and DCC-12

PerfecTemp DCC-3200 — the 14-cup model. Its listing gives a 70 fl oz carafe, regular or bold strength, a 1-4 cup setting for small batches, Brew Pause, a warming plate you set to Low, Medium or High, and auto-off from 0 to 4 hours. Cuisinart says its PerfecTemp technology brews hotter; it does not publish a temperature.

Brew Central DCC-1200P1 — the plainer 12-cup. It has the 1-4 cup setting, which its booklet says basically double heats the water for small batches, and the three-setting warming plate, but no strength control.

Personal Brew DCC-12 — the pared-back option. Its listing gives a swing-out brew basket and a 62 oz reservoir that lifts out, so you can fill it without pulling the machine from under a cabinet, plus settings for hot, iced, regular or strong.

Thermal carafe: DCC-3400 and DCC-1170

PerfecTemp DCC-3400 — the DCC-3200's features with a 12-cup double-wall insulated carafe in place of the warming plate. Its booklet suggests preheating the carafe with hot water before brewing, and notes the carafe must never go on a stove.

Thermal Classic DCC-1170 — a 10-cup thermal model with 1-4 cup settings and self-clean. It has no strength control, and its booklet caps the basket at 15 tablespoons of ground coffee.

Both keep coffee hot without cooking it, which is the whole reason to choose thermal.

Grind & Brew: the DGB-400

The DGB-400 grinds whole beans just before brewing, into a 12-cup glass carafe, with a grind-off option when you want to use pre-ground coffee. Its listing says plainly that it is a blade grinder. Blades chop rather than mill, so the grind is less even than a burr grinder's; for drip coffee most people find that acceptable, but it is the trade-off for the convenience.

Cuisinart also makes burr-grinder Grind & Brew models, but on the day we checked none was sold new by Amazon.com. A separate burr grinder and any drip machine on this page is the alternative; see our best coffee maker with grinder guide.

Pods, or pods and a pot

If you only want pods, our which Keurig to buy guide covers the brand most pod drinkers start with.

What owning one involves

Most of these machines have a CLEAN light that tells you when to decalcify, and Cuisinart's booklets clean them with a mixture of white vinegar and water rather than a branded descaler. The charcoal water filter is changed every 60 days or 60 uses, sooner in hard water. Our Cuisinart cleaning guide covers each family's procedure.

Every booklet we read carries a limited three-year warranty. The SS-21 booklet limits it to US buyers who purchase from Cuisinart or an authorized Cuisinart reseller, so keep the receipt and check the seller.
