Breville's own US product page for the BES810 now states: “This model has been discontinued.” The machine was a 54 mm, single-boiler semi-automatic with a 15 bar Italian pump and low-pressure pre-infusion, measuring 12.6″ x 10.1″ x 13.1″. It is not gone in any way that matters to an owner: it shares the 54 mm portafilter and basket platform with the Bambino and Barista Express, so parts, baskets and water filters are still current stock. If you are replacing one, Breville's own comparison pages set it against the Bambino and the Barista Express Impress.

The Breville Duo-Temp Pro BES810 is discontinued but sits on Breville's fifty-four millimetre platform, which it shares with the Bambino BES450, the Bambino Plus BES500, the Infuser BES840 and the Barista Express BES870. Breville's own genuine replacement portafilter, part SP0027237, is listed as fitting all five machines, so portafilters, baskets, water filters and cleaning consumables remain current stock rather than discontinued spares. Discontinued, but not stranded One Breville part number fits five machines. The BES810 is one of them. 54 mm one platform Bambino BES450 Bambino Plus BES500 Infuser BES840 Barista Express BES870 Duo-Temp Pro BES810 Breville part SP0027237 is listed as fitting all five.

A discontinued machine is only a problem if the parts stop. These are the consumables Breville still lists as fitting the BES810, by its own part numbering.

Breville has discontinued it, and says so

There is no ambiguity to report. Breville's own US product page for the BES810 carries the line This model has been discontinued. Need support or something new? We’ve got you., and the same notice appears on its Canadian page.

Across repeated searches of Amazon's catalogue, under several names and in several categories, we found no listing for the machine itself — only accessories sold as compatible with it, several of which describe a production run from 2014 onward. The machine is out of distribution, not merely out of stock.

That is the headline, and for most people reading this it is also irrelevant: the Duo-Temp Pro sold for roughly a decade, so the overwhelming majority of searches for it come from people who already own one.

What the machine is

A single-boiler, 54 mm semi-automatic — the format Breville built its entry range around. Water is heated through a thermocoil rather than a traditional boiler, and the pump is a 15 bar Italian pump.

The feature Breville leads with on the product page is pre-infusion: Low pressure pre-infusion helps ensure all the flavors are drawn out evenly. The machine wets the puck gently before going to full pressure, which is the same behaviour the Barista range has and the reason a Breville shot does not start flowing the instant you press the button.

Physically it is 12.6″ wide, 10.1″ deep and 13.1″ high by Breville's published dimensions — a compact machine by espresso standards, though the height is what catches people with low cupboards.

What still fits it

This is the part that decides whether a discontinued machine is a problem, and the answer is reassuring: the Duo-Temp Pro sits on Breville's 54 mm platform, shared with the Bambino, Bambino Plus, Infuser and Barista Express. Parts made for that platform are current stock, not old stock.

Breville's own genuine replacement portafilter, part SP0027237, is listed as fitting the Bambino BES450, Bambino Plus BES500, Duo-Temp Pro BES810, Infuser BES840, Barista Express BES870 — five machines, one part. The same is true of the water filter: Breville's filter listing names the compatible machines and the Duo-Temp Pro BES810 is among them.

So baskets, portafilters, tampers, water filters, descaler and cleaning tablets are all ordinary purchases. The components that would genuinely strand the machine are the thermocoil and the pump, and those were never user-serviceable on any machine in this class.

Using one, by the manual

The operating sequence is the same as the rest of the 54 mm range, and the manual's numbers are the useful part. Tamp to 15–20 kg or 30–40 lb of pressure. Use the Single Wall baskets with fresh beans and the Dual Wall baskets with pre-ground coffee. Milk goes to 140–149°F / 60–65°C, which the manual describes as the point where the jug is too hot to hold.

The Duo-Temp Pro shipped with the Razor dose trimming tool, which trims the tamped puck to a repeatable height — a genuinely useful inclusion that several more expensive machines omit.

One behaviour to expect rather than diagnose: the manual notes that a pumping or pulsing noise during extraction and steaming is normal for a machine running a 15 bar Italian pump, and nothing to act on.

If you are replacing one

Breville has not named a direct successor, but it has published two comparisons of its own, which is the closest thing to a steer from the maker: the Duo-Temp Pro against the Bambino (BES450), and the Barista Express Impress (BES876) against the Duo-Temp Pro.

Those two point in different directions. The Bambino is the same 54 mm platform in a smaller, faster-heating body with no grinder — the closest thing to a like-for-like replacement if you already own a grinder. The Barista Express Impress adds a built-in grinder and assisted tamping, which is a different proposition and a considerably higher price.

What has not changed is the platform. Moving from a Duo-Temp Pro to a Bambino or a Barista Express keeps your baskets, your tamper and your portafilter accessories working, which is not true of a move to a 58 mm machine.

The consumables Breville lists as fitting the BES810. The water filter part number covers the Duo-Temp Pro alongside the Barista Express and the Infuser, which is why these are still ordinary stock rather than discontinued spares.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Breville Duo-Temp Pro discontinued?

Yes. Breville's own US product page for the BES810 states This model has been discontinued. and the Canadian page carries the same notice. We also found no Amazon listing for the machine itself, only accessories sold as compatible with it.

What size portafilter does the Duo-Temp Pro take?

54 mm. The manual specifies a 54 mm stainless steel portafilter, and Breville's genuine replacement part SP0027237 is listed as fitting the Duo-Temp Pro BES810 alongside the Bambino, Infuser and Barista Express.

Can I still get parts for it?

Yes, and they are current stock rather than old stock. The BES810 shares Breville's 54 mm platform with machines still in production, so portafilters, baskets, water filters, descaler and cleaning tablets are ordinary purchases.

What replaced the Duo-Temp Pro?

Breville has not named a successor. It does publish its own comparisons of the Duo-Temp Pro against the Bambino (BES450) and of the Barista Express Impress (BES876) against the Duo-Temp Pro, which is the nearest thing to a steer from the maker.

Why does the machine make a pulsing noise?

The manual says this is normal for a machine running a 15 bar Italian pump, during both extraction and steaming, and that there is nothing to do about it.

Does this page give it a score?

No. We publish scores only on award pages; a profile states the specifications the maker published and leaves the judgement to the reader.
