Every current Moccamaster brews the same way: Moccamaster's manual gives one brewing range, 196° to 205°F, and a full carafe in 4 to 6 minutes, and every brewer carries a 5-year warranty. What you choose is the carafe, glass on a hot plate or thermal, and the brew basket, an automatic drip-stop or a manual basket you can slow for smaller batches. We have not reviewed these brewers; every figure is Moccamaster's own, read on 30 October 2026.

How much coffee to use
Moccamaster's manual recommends 55 grams of ground coffee per liter of water, the Specialty Coffee Association's golden cup ratio. For a full 40 oz (1.25 L) carafe, its support site gives 69 grams, or 7 level scoops; for 32 oz, 55 grams. It recommends a medium-coarse grind that looks like coarse sand or sea salt. Our buying guide has the full table.
Descaling a Moccamaster
Moccamaster asks for a descale every 100 brews, or each time you finish a box of 100 filters, with Urnex Dezcal or BioCaf powder dissolved in 32 oz of warm water first. It advises against vinegar. Carafes are hand-wash only, and its warranty excludes failure to descale. See how to clean and descale a Moccamaster.
