KitchenAid KF6 vs KitchenAid KF7

The most common question about KitchenAid's full-size range. Same espresso hardware; this page shows what the KF7's extra parts do and who uses them. Both machines were evaluated on the same published rubric, from documented evidence, and this page is those two records side by side. We have not physically tested either.

— KitchenAid KF6 — KitchenAid KF7 1 rubric, published in full 0 physically tested

The KitchenAid KF6 and KitchenAid KF7 share KitchenAid's full-size grinder, brew unit, heater, tank and metal-clad body. The KitchenAid KF7 adds the milk side and the screen: an included milk container, a dual milk outlet for two milk drinks at once, a 3.5 inch touchscreen instead of a 2.4 inch screen with buttons, named profiles, and flat white, cortado and lungo presets.

The short answer

Buy the KitchenAid KF7 if milk drinks are the daily routine, you often make two at once, or you want named profiles and flat white presets. Our record marks it as best for milk-drink households that want convenience without paying flagship money.

Buy the KitchenAid KF6 if you drink espresso, Americanos and the odd latte, have a jug for milk, and would rather not pay for screens and presets. Our record marks it as best for espresso-first households who want the full-size KitchenAid without the extras.

How we can say this: both machines went through the same published evaluation against the same rubric, and each one's full record is on its review page. That is a repeatable, documented comparison; it is not a tasting, and we say so wherever it matters.

Which one should you buy?

Every row below is resolved from the two catalog records, not from a preference of ours; where the records tie, the row says so.

If what matters most to you is…ThenBecause
A milk container in the box KitchenAid KF7 the KF7 includes one; the KF6 comes with a tube for your own jug
Two milk drinks in one cycle KitchenAid KF7 only the KF7 and KF8 have a dual milk outlet
Flat white, cortado and lungo presets KitchenAid KF7 they are on the KF7's menu and not the KF6's
The same espresso without paying for extras KitchenAid KF6 both use the same grinder and brew unit; the KF6 is the entry model of the full-size range
Swapping beans for decaf Either — the records tie both have the removable hopper with a purge step
Counter space Either — the records tie they share the same body and footprint

We publish a score only for award winners, on the award page that justifies it, so this comparison is decided on what the two machines do rather than on a number. In the words of the two review records: the KitchenAid KF6 is KitchenAid's full-size grinder and brew unit in a metal-clad body, with espresso every tester rated once dialled in and a swappable bean hopper. Milk comes from your own jug with volume the only setting, and the factory settings need work. The KitchenAid KF7 is The KF6's espresso with a touchscreen, an included milk container, two milk drinks at once and named profiles; the reviewer who bought one rated it highly. The step up buys convenience, not a better shot.

Neither of these is our 2026 award winner. The Best Overall Espresso Machine award went to the Breville Bambino Plus — a different answer to a different question — and its full scorecard is public on the award page. This page is a comparison of two review records, not an award.

* Pressure figures are manufacturer-published pump ratings. A pump rating is the pump's maximum, not the pressure at the coffee during a shot, and we have not measured brew pressure on either machine, so the two numbers are shown because the manufacturers publish them, not as comparable measures of extraction. † Marked figures are not confirmed on a manufacturer source for the exact model number listed above; we have left our tracked value in place rather than substitute an unverified one. Plant-milk ratings are our own documented 1–5 scoring, published on each review page.

Portafilter sizes for every machine we cover, with sources, are on our portafilter size chart; footprints are on the dimensions chart.

The price arithmetic

We publish a price only when we can read it live, and right now at least one of these machines has no live listing to read. Rather than print a tracked figure that may have moved, the arithmetic is left out: the current prices are on the cards above, and the gap between them is whatever the two retailers say today. What does not move with the price is what the premium buys, which the sections below take row by row from the two records.

The same machine where it counts

One KitchenAid owner's manual covers the KitchenAid KF6, the KitchenAid KF7 and the KF8. All three use the same steel conical burr grinder with seven positions, the same removable brew unit, a single heater for coffee and milk, a 2.2 litre side-loading tank and a removable 270 gram hopper. TechRadar, testing the KitchenAid KF6, found the differences between it and the KF8 quite small, and the same applies to the KitchenAid KF7.

Both need dialling in. Home Coffee Expert found the factory settings poor on both and used the second-finest grind with the strongest dose.

The milk side is the real difference

The KitchenAid KF6 has a single milk outlet and a tube you place in your own container; the only setting is milk volume. The KitchenAid KF7 includes a milk container of about 790 millilitres and a dual outlet, adds a frothed-milk drink, and lets you choose whether milk or coffee goes into the cup first. Testers found the milk adequate rather than outstanding on both, and neither has a plant-milk setting; that is the KF8's addition. Home Coffee Expert noted the KitchenAid KF6's cappuccino pours milk first, which the order setting on the KitchenAid KF7 lets you change.

Where the KF8 fits: KF6 vs KF7 vs KF8

The KF8 adds a 5 inch touchscreen, six profiles, five strength levels, a plant-milk setting and the longest menu to the KitchenAid KF7. If your choice is between all three, the order of questions is simple: daily plant milk or more than four profiles points to the KF8; daily milk drinks for two points to the KitchenAid KF7; espresso and occasional milk points to the KitchenAid KF6. Our KF7 vs KF8 comparison covers the top step.

Where each one wins

And where each loses — from the same review records:

KitchenAid KF6KitchenAid KF7

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between the KitchenAid KF6 and KF7?

The KF7 adds a milk container, a dual milk outlet, a 3.5 inch touchscreen, named profiles and more presets including flat white and cortado. The grinder, brew unit, tank and body are the same, so the espresso is the same.

Is the KitchenAid KF6 or KF7 better value?

For espresso and occasional milk drinks, the KF6, because it brews the same shot. For a household that makes milk drinks every day, often two at a time, the KF7's container and dual outlet earn their place.

Does the KitchenAid KF6 have a touchscreen?

No. The KF6 has a 2.4 inch colour screen with touch buttons beside it. The KF7 has a 3.5 inch touchscreen and the KF8 a 5 inch one.

Heater 'Thermocoil - Single' and net weight 28 lb (12.7 kg) from AJ Madison's reproduction of KitchenAid's spec data for the same platform; two UK reviews state 18.1 kg, so weight is the least certain figure here.
